Welcome
I created "gloom in bloom" so I'd have a place to catalog and share my growing collection of handcrafted oddities with the world. I create these things because I feel compelled to, and because there is something fundamentally cathartic to me about the process -- so the fact that other people have also found enjoyment through my creations has been an unexpected and gratifying reward.
The name "gloom in bloom" is something I carried around in my head for a long time before I ended up using it here. To those who know me well, I don't have to explain why the name makes sense within the context of my personality...but the idea behind the name is really deeper than that. To me, the literal meaning of "gloom in bloom" conjures up images of bleakness pushing forth beauty -- it reminds me that it's possible to work through the darkest of life's challenges and still burst forth at the other end of the tunnel like a fiery blossom of glittering light.
So that's what this site and these creations mean to me -- a way to channel my errant energies into something positive, something that brings me joy and helps me feel as if I'm transcending the limitations of the everyday, if just for a while.
Thank you so much for visiting my weird little garden -- I hope you enjoy your stay. New seeds are being planted and strange blooms are budding all the time...so please stop by again soon!
